What is the Accessibility Suite?

The Accessibility Suite is a collection of Google accessibility apps for Android devices that is compatible with switch devices or can help you use your device (phone, tablet, etc) eyes-free. The app helps users to customise their accessibility settings and apps. It allows users to have interaction controls, the ability to use their device as a screen reader, to change your display, to have on-screen text, and use a braille display.

How can Accessibility Suite help?

The Accessibility Suite ultimately is aimed to be an easy to use and customizable application on your Android device to gain simple accessibility features.  These features consist of several functions within:

  • Accessibility Menu: a control menu designed for visually impaired users

  • TalkBack: a screen reader for Android devices which reads aloud text on-screen. Includes gesture-based controls and an on-screen Braille keyboard

  • Select to Speak: allows you to select items on the screen and have them read aloud

  • Switch Access: lets you connect physical switches or a keyboard to the Android device to control it

Where can I find Android Accessibility Suite?

The Android Accessibility Suite is a free app that can be found on the Google Play Store. This app requires Android 6 or later. 

To get started after downloading the app:

1. Open your device's Settings app.

2. Select Accessibility.

3. Select Accessibility Menu, Select to Speak, Switch Access, or TalkBack
